Consultation

On your first visit to our chiropractic center you will be welcomed as a member of our family and our chiropractic assistant will greet you. You will then be asked to fill out our new patient forms which will help us gain some information about you and your condition.
Dr. Ranae Beard will then talk with you in comfortable surroundings and ask you some specific questions regarding your health and condition. Following a detailed consultation to determine if Gonstead chiropractic care may be of benefit to you, the doctor will let you know if he or she can help you. If the doctors determine they cannot help you, you will be referred to the appropriate health care provider.

Examination

After a thorough consultation with the doctor, you will have a complete chiropractic examination. This will include testing your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend as well as other standard orthopedic, neurologic, postural, and physical examinations. In addition, two computerized scans (surfaceEMG and thermography), are used to locate areas of swelling and inflammation along the spine. It is the latest in chiropractic examination technology. The doctor will gain valuable information regarding your condition and how to best help you. This information includes how to specifically reduce and correct spinal nerve interference caused by spinal subluxations so all parts of your body may communicate effectively as intended. If necessary, the doctor may take X-rays or refer you for additional testing procedures.

X-ray
X-ray is sometimes required to get a complete evaluation of a patient. X-rays may be taken for several reasons. These include:

  1. to determine the condition of the discs (soft cushions between vertebrae)
  2. to determine the severity of spinal degeneration
  3. to locate problem areas in your spine such as: joint dysfunctions, misalignments, abnormal curves etc.
  4. to rule out other pathologies (disease). The need for X-ray is considered on a case by case basis. Our equipment is state of the art for imaging.

Report of Findings

Once all the information and examinations have been performed and the doctors have had ample time to study your results, your detailed exam will be explained and important questions will be addressed on your second visit to the office. Questions such as:

  1. What is my problem/condition?
  2. How long will it take to get fixed?
  3. How much will my care cost?
